Shank – Ghetto Remix Ft. Seun Kuti, Kay Switch, Vector, Davido

Following the success of the original song Ghetto, which has won 2 awards already; best pop video at the Nigerian Music Video Awards (NMVA) 2012 and music video of the year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA) 2013,Shank drops Ghetto Remix ft Seun Kuti, Davido, Kayswitch and Vector.
As you know, the original was a huge success which enjoyed major airplay all over Nigeria as well as in the UK, Malaysia, South Africa, Dubai, Ghana and Benin Republic. However, it wasn’t enough, hence the need to produce the remix.
After pondering over the idea for over a year, Seun Kuti, Davido, Vector and Kayswitch were called upon to add their artistic skills since they are all masters in this game. All 4 of them came with loads of hits behind them to bless the track while Shank laced the original chorus with a few bars and of course Sarz on the decks lacing out the beat as usual and Dr Frabz helped with the mixing and mastering.
To drop a remix like no other “Mother of all remixes”, Patrick Elis who shot the video in the ghetto and urban parts of Lagos and added another creative ghetto element to this master-piece. The cameos in this project doubled the original. They include General Pype, B-red, Ghetto P, Dr Frabz, Npz, Ice-berg Slim, Danagog, Efa, Pelli, Deevee (db-records), Moblow to mention a few.

The much anticipated video for the Shank's song 'GHETTO' will be shot this week! Taking place across 5 major ghettos in Lagos the video will depict the harsh reality of ghetto life and will be directed by Patrick Elis, one Nigeria's foremost music video directors.

     The song talks about the struggles of an artiste from the "GHETTO". Emphasizing the trials he faced in his hunger for music excellence, Shank recounts that while he has now made it as a popular artist he hasn't forgotten that he started from humble beginnings.
      "GHETTO" has been enjoying massive airplay on all radio stations. It is also proving to be a club banger with interesting music and lyrical content and has become a favorite amongst DJs nationwide

Teeto Ceemos - real name, Toyin Tito Salako - was born and raised in Lagos in the early 80's. He fell in love with rap music in the early 90's after being surrounded by it throughout his pre-adolescent years. By the time he graduated from secondary school, Teeto was fully immersed in Hip-Hop music and the culture, even briefly forming a now-defunct rap group called Knights Of The Turn Table.

Best known for his award-winning hit single Julie, Shank is a popular and commercial Nigerian pop artist with a unique and eclectic style. Born in London in 1983, Shank returned to Nigeria at an early age and grew up in Lagos. The sprawling metropolis of Eko inspired him to become the socially conscious artist and performer that he is today. From an early age Shank knew that music was his calling and was influenced by the legendary Fela Kuti who spotted his innate talent early and took him under his wings. Shank also drew a lot of his music inspiration and talent from his father who was a musician and part of Fela’s band. Shank studied Creative Arts at the university of Lagos further refining his artistic talent and travelled regularly between London and the states, developing the beginning of what is now a large Nigerian and International fan base.
In 2008 Shank signed to Starville Entertainment, a fresh, young and bold record label and entertainment company. His 2008 club banging hit single Julie propelled him to the top of the charts all over Africa and confirmed his position as one of Nigeria’s most talented and most popular artists. Later that year he released his 17 track debut Album, King Kong, which featured songs with Akon and D’Banj. Shank has performed on stages with some of the most impressive names in the industry including Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Fat Joe, Brick and Lace and Lil’Kim to name a few.
