Miss Eva Alordiah

Brand new single from arguably one of the best female emcees in Nigeria, Eva and this one is called “I Done Did It”. Press Release: Eva releases Brand New single off ‘the GIGO EP’. The track produced by Award winning Producer Sossick, is titled ‘I Done Did it’ . With a previous release off ‘the...

The beauty of music is that it is highly universal and at the same time, very diverse. Universal in the sense that everyone can relate to it and diverse in the sense that there are so many different genres and while Mr B is hot for a particular genre, Mrs B hates it completely. That being said, whether you are a rock head, a jazz fellow, a lover of the more traditional afro beat or a garage fan, you’ve got to give Miss Eva Alordiah her due. She is good at what she does.

Eva is a young Nigerian female emcee who hails from Delta State but grew up in Lagos. She started rapping at the age of 13 and decided to go professional at the age of 16.She recorded her first song at 20. When asked why she picked rap music above all the other genres, she said:
“Music is a way of expression for me. If I could do it any better by singing then I would but rapping comes naturally and it’s easier for me to relate to people through rap music”
She writes all her lyrics, is very eloquent and delivers her bars beautifully. I am sure she is one to watch out for and the thought of all the competition our music industry is gonna be experiencing gets me really excited.
As far as good female emcees in Nigeria are concerned, they are not many. A complete list would probably make the World’s Thinnest Book. Weird MC, Blaise, Kel, Zara, Sasha, Kemistry to name a few (if not all). I’m quite sure Eva is gonna be adding a leaf to this book.

M I (UNDISPUTED CHAMPION)

M.I and his record label, Chocolate City, have finally decided to put out the video for “Undisputed Champion”; a single that premiered here at the start of November 2010, before M.I 2 came out later that month. If my memory serves me right, this is M.I’s 3rd video ever (after “Crowd Mentality” and “Safe”).
The quality of this song/video maintains M.I’s status as the “undisputed champion” of commercial hiphop in Nigeria, and he has numbers to prove it. M.I 2 (The Movie) is billed for a UK Premiere/Tour (along with the Choc Boiz) sometime in April 2011. We’ll be bringing you guys detailed info on that very soon. U.S. fans aren’t left out as well; plans are already underway for an American tour later this summer. Be on alert for key dates.

DAREY FINALLY DROPS THIRD AND FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM SIMULTANEOUSLY

After almost two years of waiting, fans can now heave a heavy sigh of relief as the multiple award-winning singer-songwriter finally released his new double album DOUBLE DARE digitally and physically. Yes – not one; but two albums, specially created over an extensive period, by Darey and several collaborators in Lagos, London, South Africa, Abuja and America.
The new albums, released in two different CDs (differently titled HEART and BEAT to form the word HEARTBEAT) are ‘products of necessity’, says a statement from Darey’s label Soul Muzik. On the one hand, the first CD Vol.1: HEART parades a rare, mind-blowing set of timeless slow to mid-tempo R&B/Soul tunes that truly expose the naked essence of Darey’s wide vocal range. While on the other hand, the second disc Vol. 2: BEAT contains more up-tempo dance tracks on which Darey exhibits his edgy style, while still displaying his virtuoso vocal prowess.
personally, fans will see the two sides of Darey, especially the fun-playful aspect, of a man mostly known to be straight-up ‘smooth, calm and collected.’ And musically, they’ll experience the double-dimension of his art; the interesting diversity of his talent, and the depth of his skills. At a time when most artists prefer to play it safe, lingering within the confines of convention, towing the line of the ordinary to remain relevant, Darey prefers to stand on the ledge, daring to maintain his artistic distinctiveness.
Recently celebrated by City People Magazine as the King of R&B in Nigeria, Darey remains the continent’s most remarkable R&B/Soul recording/performing artiste. And he’s been crowned king of that genre many times – by many organisations, including Channel O, HipHopWorld Awards, Soundcity and many more who have at different times honoured him for his outstanding works.
The new albums, released on the Soul Muzik imprint, and available in stores nationwide, as well as on iTunes and other online stores, was produced and mixed at SMS, Abuja. And it features a community of talents, most of them Darey’s friends. Timaya appears on ‘Back To Sender’, P Square appear on ‘Provider’, Mo’Cheddah spits on ‘Turn Me On’, while Grammy award winning rapper, and hiphop bestseller Chamillionaire joins Darey to deliver a spectacular remix of ‘The Way You Are’.
‘It was fun working with all these amazing talents’, Darey says. ‘And I’m very honoured to have worked with everyone on the album. From producers to writers, engineers, singers, rappers and all.’
On Chamillionaire, he says, ‘we hooked up on Twitter. He liked the beats to ‘The way you are’ and wanted to be on a remix. I was happy to oblige. And I’m still amazed by what we were able to come up with. I Hope you like it!
‘It’s such a big big blessing to be able to create such beautiful, fun music. And I’m blessed to have such great talents like Cobhams, Don Jazzy, El Dee, Wayne McNeish and Ayodele Basil as friends and producers. The album is what it is because of the help of so many people, especially my team at Soul Muzik. But, essentially, it is for the benefit, the enjoyment, and satisfaction of my friends spread across the world…’
From next week, Darey will embark on a series of tours, across the media, nightclubs, campuses and other institutions, as he takes DOUBLE DARE across the country, and eventually across the world…

Double Dare Album Synopsis
At a time when most artists prefer to play it safe, lingering within the confines of convention, towing the line of the ordinary to remain relevant, Darey prefers to stand on the ledge, daring to maintain his artistic distinctiveness. After nearly two years in the studio, Darey births a double disc album aptly entitled ‘Double Dare’ which is broken up into two volumes that depict two sides of the R&B crooner.

Volume 1 entitled ‘Heart’ is a soul-drenched collection of timeless slow to mid-tempo tunes that truly expose the naked essence of his wide vocal range. The compilation has a variety of musical styles ranging from smooth R N’ B ballads to mid tempo Highlife fusion tracks. Within this volume, true Darey Fans can expect to experience flashbacks of his intense vocal performances seen by over 100 million viewers on the widely watched Project Fame TV show, where he first emerged into the Limelight.

Volume 2 … ‘beat’ contains a set of more up-tempo dance tracks which depicts Darey’s edgy style, while still displaying his virtuoso vocal delivery. Despite the dance rhythms and percussion heavy grooves within this Chapter, Darey still successfully weaves together, themes that stray away from the cliché topics of the day.

In essence, ‘Double Dare’ contains a tune for almost every mood, age bracket and socio-economic segment. In addition, there is an overall message for listeners, especially the youth and this is summarised in the album title itself Double Dare—a call to action, encouraging uniqueness, individuality and freedom of expression.

rick ross

Born: 1977The woman at the center of 50 Cent's sex tape lawsuit has been identified as the mother of rapper Rick Ross' daughter. The In Da Club hit-maker - real name Curtis Jackson - is facing legal action from Lastonia Leviston, who alleges he unlawfully released her homemade sex clip on the internet after editing himself into the video.

Tattooed with pictures of AK-47s, Miami's six-foot, 300-pound rap figure known as Rick Ross embraced his city's reputation for drug trafficking on his debut single, "Hustlin'," in 2006. While Atlanta and Houston artists were establishing their cities as Southern strongholds, Ross aimed at putting Miami back in rap's national spotlight. Ross, real name William Roberts, grew up in Carol City, FL, an impoverished northern suburb of Miami. Influenced by artists like Luther Campbell and the Notorious B.I.G., Roberts formed local rap group the Carol City Cartel and began rapping in the mid-'90s. (He took his rap name from Los Angeles drug kingpin "Freeway" Rick Ross, who ran one of the largest crack-cocaine distribution networks in the country during the '80s and early '90s.) Ross had a brief stint on Suave House Records, former label of Eightball & MJG, before he ended up on Miami-based Slip-N-Side Records, the label home of Trick Daddy and Trina. During the early to mid-2000s, he became popular and well known locally through touring with Trick Daddy and guest-appearing on a few Slip-N-Slide releases, but didn't release any solo material until 2006. Once "Hustlin'" caught the ear of a few executives within the national industry, a bidding war ensued that included offers from Bad Boy CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs and The Inc. (formerly Murder Inc.) president Irv Gotti. Nonetheless, Def Jam president and veteran rapper Jay-Z signed Ross to a multi-million-dollar deal. The Miami anthem "Hustlin'" went on to receive gold status from RIAA in May 2006 and sold over a million ringtone units before the physical release of his debut album, Port of Miami. Released in August 2006, Ross' debut was Slip-N-Side's first project under the Def Jam partnership, and it went to number one on the Billboard album chart. His follow-up, Trilla, was released the following year, prefaced with the Cool & Dre-produced title track. Early 2009 saw the release of Deeper Than Rap, an album greeted with numerous positive reviews in the hip-hop press. In early 2010 he announced an album titled Teflon Don would be appearing that same year.

Leviston claims she and former boyfriend Ross made the tape on June 30th 2008, and he promised to destroy it, according to the New York Post.

However, Ross allegedly sold the tape to Jackson, who posted it on his website during a feud with Ross last March, blurring out the rapper's face while altering the footage to depict himself wearing a curly wig and blue robe.

The suit also charges Jackson with making false allegations that Leviston was a prostitute, alleging the rapper "discussed the video and referred to (Leviston) as 'Brooke' and called her a 'call girl' more than once" during a December 2009 radio interview.

Leviston is suing for unauthorized use of her name or image, as well as emotional distress caused by the public release of the clip.
